Game Summary:

Mayfield was a horror/slice of life/plot driven game that took place in a seemingly perfect little town with seemingly perfect neighbors in seemingly perfect little houses. Seemingly.

The characters were given jobs or forced to go to school and the neighbors were empty shells of people considered to be ‘drones’ they acted as if the characters had been there their whole life and how the stereotypical fifties neighbor and family would act. That being creepily cheerful and oblivious to the dark things that were really going on in town.

History of Character in their Game:

Conan took Mayfield fairly quickly. He woke up in the town during a major plot event to the sound of a blaring siren. He was quick to figure out he wasn’t in Japan and instead some kind of western style house. He met with his (at the time) housemate and was given a crash course on what was going on. He was severely annoyed with the situation but the blaring alarm had most of his attention due to the fact it was loud. He questioned Kyon a little more and moved on to figure out what that siren was. He discovered it was coming from the dairy and asked around using his cute little kid charm and was basically told that the place was dangerous and he should go back inside.

He adjusted to his new ‘home’ easily enough and tried not to focus too much on how broken his precious logic and laws of physics were. He set about exploring the town the very next day and gathering whatever intel he could. He made a few friends but Conan has never been what one would really describe as an ‘attentive’ friend and doesn’t generally even realise when he’s made one. To him, they kind of just appear and don’t go away. (not that he’d want them to) while he didn’t seem too attentive on a friendship level his attention was hyper focused on details-he noticed people and took detailed notes on them as any detective would.

He also took notes on the town and was pointed in the direction of a few other people who might have a little more, Conan gladly tracked those people down and reviewed their notes to combine with him.

He became quite interested in the droning process and was to figure out that the drones were like incomplete programs giving him the working theory that somehow their consciousness was stuck in Mayfield but not necessarily their bodies. He spoke with several people that had been droned and added his findings to his notes.

He was also quite interested in the poisoned milk and milk man. He often ran experiments on the milk and tried every night to catch the man delivering the potentially contaminated dairy product. He never managed it but he never gave up. He was informed that the Mailman and little girl living in one of the houses were one in the same and their captor.

During the summer the carnival came to town and it was creepy and run down. Conan wondered around it a bit but he was far more interested in the only building that boarded up-the fun house. It was closed for the first few days but eventually opened up. Conan investigated at the earliest opportunity. The basement took them to weird parallel version of the carnival only this one was not run down or falling apart but seemed to be shiny and new.

However, Conan quickly lost interest in the carnival when he found he could explore some houses, which he did. One of the houses was modelled after the house the little girl ‘Lucy Smith’ stayed in and after sneaking in he gained some valuable information and overheard a couple (likely on a recording) discuss that they thought the captor might be an alien and that the razorblades sometimes in the milk were actually eggshells. Conan filed all this information away in his notes. He takes a lot of notes.

Before he was ready though, he was dragged out of the house by an assumed friend. His life was probably saved since most people that entered that house didn’t exit but he was mad anyway and sulked for a number of days.

He stopped sulking the day he met Sherlock Holmes as he was able to fulfill a long forgotten childhood dream. He got on with Holmes almost immediately even though the older detective was able to very quickly deduce that Conan wasn’t really a seven year old boy. He was immediately impressed with Sherlock and happily shared his finding with the older.

The next day Conan resumed his experiments on the milk, eager to take a look at it a little more closely than he’d been able to before. To be one hundred percent sure that he had the milk with the razors he decided to drink. He was not disappointed. He was quickly reprimanded for his reckless behaviour and patched up as his mouth was kind of… bleeding.

After his mouth healed up he went back to leaving the house after the milk arrived and coming back at sunset with new notes taken for that day.

When August rolled around he was forced to attend school and spent most of his time in second grade asleep at his desk. It wasn’t until after Gin turned up that Conan changed his daily routine, preferring to stay in and watch the road outside his house rather than leave to go explore. There was a problem though as he had to go to school. If he didn’t he risked getting droned and forced to go to school.

Unfortunately that wasn’t enough to keep him safe as he attempted to follow the assassin and got caught and kidnapped. After a very serious torture session Conan managed to escape the assassin before the final blow and broke into someone’s house and had to be rushed to the hospital where he spent a good two weeks recovering from broken ribs and other fairly serious injuries.

It was for this reason that Conan was banished to the house and Maladict and Sherlock took a more active role in trying to keep him safe.

How did they change from their canon personality wise

His personality didn’t take too many deviations from his canon one, he’s still very much a manipulative little brat obsessed with any kind of challenging mystery and Sherlock Holmes. During his stay at house 915 Bilko Boulevard he had and privilege and pleasure of having Sherlock Holmes as his Mayfield ‘Father.’ Which he very much enjoyed on most occasions. He didn’t not respond too well whenever Holmes tried to play the ‘head of household’ card with him.

In canon Conan is a very no-nonsense kind of person and immediately dismisses the idea of curses and ghosts and what not and feels personally offended by the idea of magic. In Mayfield he’s been shown the existence of the multiverse and forced to accept that ghost and vampires and all that fun stuff do exist. (which he is still personally offended by) But he lives his life by a code and that code is ‘What Would Holmes Do?’ And to always eliminate the impossible.

Originally, he didn’t care much for his assumed ‘family’ and left his vampire mom to her own devices, only occasionally bothering to converse with her. When Sherlock came in Conan was immediately intrigued and bombarded the detective with questions after taking a sledgehammer to the fourth wall. He did not approve of Sherlock’s drug habits when they came into play but stated later he wouldn’t ask Holmes to change because he (Conan) should have seen this coming. Meeting his lifelong idol wasn’t anything he would have expected though as the two often butted heads mostly over Conan’s safety. Conan did not want to be protected, he wanted to be the protector.

Shortly after Conan was kidnapped and tortured by Gin Sherlock and Maladict (Vampire!Mom) implemented a few grounds rules they expected Conan to follow (he didn’t) including a curfew, and grounding him from the phone (sort of) In efforts to keep ‘their child’ safe.

Conan was never aware of it as he’s not the best as recognising when relationships grow but but he did very much care for his assumed family. He never considered them as actual family but he did enjoy living with them and actively tried to protect them as is in his nature.

The most notable personality changes would be his ability to accept the supernatural which he will consider a blind spot in his deductions. It’s not enough to turn him off the mystery entirely but it will tick him off, as I said, he takes the existence of the supernatural to be a complete insult.)

Since his would be murderer had been brought to Mayfield he turned far more irritable. (which will decrease with time) Now he knows that it is indeed possible for organization members to be pulled in as well. This makes him far more paranoid and much less likely to trust others.

Due to what is probably a severe bout of untreated PTSD Conan will occasionally break out into cold sweat and have ‘war flashbacks’ so to speak. They come on anytime someone mentions anything that might remind him of the organization. Especially Gin, Vodka, and Bourbon.

How did they change from their canon physically (Please explain what caused it to happen?):

Conan never really underwent permanent physical changes other than perhaps he’s a smidge taller than his canon self just from growing like a normal child would. Any other changes would be maybe a few added scars from his reckless nature and being savagely beaten by a very dangerous assassin.

Conan doesn’t have any special powers other than perhaps his powers of logic and deduction and freakish intelligence. Any added strength or help comes from gadgets made so that he could adjust to his small size.
